Live Audition Requirements

Singers
1. Short conversation in Basic English comprehension and speaking abilities
2. One song of the applicant’s choice from Broadway / Musical Theater repertoire
3. Please bring one other song from any genre of the student’s choosing – opera, art song, pop, jazz, Broadway and the faculty may ask to hear a short excerpt from one of these.
4. Please bring your own pianist. If you cannot bring your own pianist, bring photocopies of your audition songs and one of the jury members will accompany you.
5. IF YOU WANT TO AUDITION FOR A SOLOIST ROLE IN EITHER LES MIZ OR GREASE, please prepare a solo from either of these musicals as one of your audition songs. Solo songs from the musicals include the following titles:


Les Miserables

Female:
I Dreamed a Dream – Fantine
Castle on a Cloud – Cosette
On My Own – Eponine

Male:
Who am I ? - Valjean
Bring Him Home – Valjean

4. Sight reading from Broadway repertoire.

For Recorded-Media Audition by mail or Musicians NOT residing in Taiwan:

Singers
You should include the following in your CD or DVD of your recorded audition materials:

1. Short self-introduction in English stating name, etc
2. One song of the applicant’s choice from Broadway / Musical Theater repertoire OR for those with acting or dance backgrounds, one recorded acting or dance presentation.
3. A Second song (or acting / dance presentation) of the applicant’s choice from any genre
4. If you want to audition for solo roles in Les Miserables or Grease, please prepare a solo from either of these musicals as one of your audition songs. See list above under Live Audition section

Pianists
1. Short self-introduction in English stating name, etc
2. One piece of the applicant’s choice. Any repertoire
