Peter Van
Marle 彼得凡馬勒(荷蘭)
拉丁鋼琴、拉丁打擊、合奏指導、爵士節奏
荷蘭著名拉丁音樂演奏家、教育家,安南音樂院(Conservatory of Arnhem NL)爵士鋼琴文憑、鹿特丹音樂院(Conservatory
of Rotterdam NL)世界音樂系拉丁美洲鋼琴主修文憑、拉丁美洲打擊樂副修文憑。多年來鑽研非洲—古巴樂(Afro-Cuban
Music),帶領拉丁樂團無數,於荷蘭、法國等地巡迴,並於1997與1998兩年遠征音樂發源地古巴與加勒比海地區巡迴演出,與多位拉丁音樂大師同台合作。1993年起應邀擔任比利時布魯塞爾皇家音樂院(Royal
Conservatory of Brussels , Belgium)之節奏、拉丁樂團、鋼琴與打擊樂教授,並連續十五年擔任荷蘭阿姆斯特丹
貝登肯斯特 (St. Buitenkunst)戶外藝術教學研習營拉丁音樂講師,於歐洲教育英才無數。2004年11月曾應邀來台,參與台北市文化局所主辦之「齒輪律動︰音樂敲打碰」青少年拉丁音樂打擊創作工坊之教學與演出活動。

Englert 韋納恩格勒(德國)
爵士大樂團、放克與節奏藍調樂團、薩克斯風與管樂、合奏指導
德國名爵士薩克斯風演奏家、活躍於德國南部佛來堡地區,曾於德國與世界各地參與爵士音樂節,並於2002至2004年擔任裡海(Caspian)爵士與藍調音樂節之大樂團總監。在演奏生涯之外,並專精於青少年即興合奏指導教育,創立德國著名之Sax'n
Hop樂團,並於各地舉辦工作坊與講座,包含德國司徒加音樂院與美國波士頓國際爵士教育協會年會等,目前於Emmendingen創設「Music-Lab」音樂學校,擔任藝術總監及專任師資。

Deborah
J. Carter 黛柏拉卡特(美國)
爵士歌唱、人聲即興
旅歐知名爵士與藍調女歌手,出生於美國德州休斯頓,成長於夏威夷及日本,畢業於美國百克里音樂院之後赴歐發展,目前活躍於荷蘭爵士樂壇,曾應邀於著名之北海爵士音樂節中演出,並與歐洲著名之爵士大樂團如荷蘭大都會管絃樂團、德國法蘭克福廣播電台爵士大樂團、德國柏林爵士大樂團等合作擔綱演唱歌手,並長期與美國之聲基金會合作,於全世界各地參與音樂節及舉辦講習活動。目前亦為荷蘭Timeless唱片簽約爵士歌手,已出版四張個人專輯,皆獲高度評價。

Thierry Gutmann 席爾利顧特曼(比利時)
爵士鼓、合奏指導
1961年生於布魯塞爾,於法語布魯塞爾皇家音樂院取得爵士樂演奏碩士學位,受教於名鼓手布魯諾卡斯特盧奇,為其得意門生之一,並擅長各類曲風如流行、拉丁與爵士音樂等。合作過之音樂家亦涵蓋各類風格,譬如比利時電視台大樂團
(BRT)、Aka Moon貝斯手Michel Hatzigorgiou、吉他手Marc Lelangue、Philippe
Catherine、Nicholas Fizman、歌手Kevin Mulligan、Tony O Malley、David
Linx、小號手Calvin Owens、Gino Lattucca等等,亦曾於Yamaha樂器所舉辦的音樂活動上與當代爵士吉他手Mike
Stern合奏。在錄音及巡迴演出方面,席爾利可謂經驗豐富,曾與Maurane, Isabelle Antenna,
Kadja Nin, William Sheller, Jo Lemaire, Axelle Red, Salvatore
Adamo....等歐陸、法語流行、藍調藝人們征戰全世界,最近的記錄,包含了剛結束的日本巡迴,以及接下來即將開拔的加拿大巡迴。在職業鼓手的生涯之外,他亦活躍於各類爵士鼓工作坊、課程與營隊,目前任教於比利時重要的爵士樂學校之一—JazzStudio
in Antwerp,以及廬森堡青年音樂院等校。

De Nolf 巴特迪諾夫(比利時)
低音大提琴、電貝斯、合奏指導
來自於比利時最美麗的小城布魯日,根特皇家音樂院古典低音大提琴第一獎畢業,為比利時最佳爵士貝斯手之一,曾與多位歐美爵士名家如Horace
Parlan、Kenny Wheeler、Mal Waldron、Von Freeman、Lew Tabackin、Lee
Konitz、Dave Pike、Bud Shank、Philip Catherine等人合作演出,流行樂合作錄音及演出夥伴包括Isabelle
Antena、Shirley Bassey、Salvatore Adamo等,並巡迴全球演出。目前擔任比利時爵士口琴國寶Toots
Thielemans的樂團固定成員,與Kenny Werner、Mike Del Ferro等鋼琴手長期搭檔,並應邀為法國香頌爵士大師Michel
Legrand專輯錄音。1998年起擔任布魯塞爾皇家音樂院及根特皇家音樂院爵士音樂系專任教職,為專業演出及教學經驗兼備之爵士樂手。

Degryse 法比安底格里斯(比利時)
吉他、合奏指導
比利時傑出爵士吉他手、作曲家,美國百克里音樂院、比利時法語布魯塞爾皇家音樂院演奏文憑畢業,擅長樂風涵蓋遼闊,爵士、藍調、融合樂、世界音樂、民謠、流行、搖滾等皆為其拿手樂風,迄今發行四張個人專輯,並經常受邀跨刀演出或錄音,於歐洲及非洲、加拿大等地巡迴演出,著稱之樂團尚有吉他、薩克斯風、低音大提琴三重奏組合之「L'ame
des Poetes」等。有多年教學經驗的他,現專職於比利時布魯塞爾皇家音樂院爵士音樂系及歐洲各大爵士夏令營如「Libramont」等,並活躍於比利時、法國、加拿大魁北克、阿爾及利亞、布吉那法索等爵士樂壇及教育界,著有法文版之爵士吉他教學書籍「l'improvisation
jazz par les arpe'ges pour la guitare」。

Hsieh 謝啟彬(台灣)
爵士小提琴與其他獨奏樂器、即興概論、合奏指導
比利時布魯塞爾皇家音樂院爵士小提琴演奏碩士,啟彬與凱雅的二重奏小提琴手,為國內優秀之爵士樂手,曾於國家演奏廳演出「台灣新爵士」主題音樂會,並出版深受好評之「爵士台灣映象」專輯,2005年三月以啟彬與凱雅的二重奏,代表台灣前往印尼雅加達參與爪哇國際爵士音樂節,三月中下旬則與來台演出之著名爵士鋼琴家D.D.
Jackson同台競技。除擔任華文世界最專業的「啟彬與凱雅的爵士棧」網站主筆,更投身爵士樂之教育推廣,為有志學子貢獻所長,目前任教於實踐大學音樂系,教授爵士即興與樂團合奏、流行音樂、世界音樂等課程,2004年起擔任台北國際爵士樂夏令研習營之專業師資及行政統籌迄今,亦為國內各機關團體邀約之爵士樂講師。

Chang 張凱雅(台灣)
爵士鋼琴、爵士和聲、爵士曲式、合奏指導
比利時布魯塞爾皇家音樂院爵士暨拉丁鋼琴演奏碩士,啟彬與凱雅的二重奏鋼琴手,為國內少見古典爵士兼備之高學歷專業樂手,曾於國家演奏廳演出「台灣新爵士」主題音樂會,並出版深受好評之「爵士台灣映象」專輯,2005年三月以啟彬與凱雅的二重奏,代表台灣前往印尼雅加達參與爪哇國際爵士音樂節,並與台灣歌仔戲要角唐美雲老師合作「歌仔戲飆爵士」跨界音樂會。除忙碌的演出行程之外,並經常受邀於北藝大、輔大、實踐、文化、誠品書店、山葉樂器、富邦藝術基金會等舉辦講座及寫作,亦與謝啟彬共同擔任「啟彬與凱雅的爵士棧」網站主筆,目前任教於實踐大學,2004年起擔任台北國際爵士樂夏令研習營之專業師資及課程規劃迄今,創作樂曲除爵士樂之外,亦見於音樂劇、劇場配樂、商業音樂、管絃樂團、國樂團等。

Carroll 葛雷格卡羅(美國)
爵士音樂史、爵士教學法、爵士鐵琴、合奏指導
國際爵士樂教育協會(International Association of Jazz Education
; IAJE)教育總監,前科羅拉多大學爵士音樂系系主任,曾以鐵琴演奏家身分與當代著名爵士名家Dave Grusin、Nelson
Rangell、Chico Freeman、Bobby Shew、Louie Bellson等合作演出,目前風塵僕僕往返世界各地,獻身爵士樂教育,擔任歐美各地音樂學校、音樂節及音樂營之教育顧問暨專業師資,榮獲之頭銜尚包括1983年美國黑人名人錄提名,以及1997年科羅拉多州年度爵士教育家。

Peter Van

Pianist & Percussionist
Dutch Latin-jazz pianist Peter van Marle
studied jazz at the Conservatory of Arnhem between1987
and 1990 and graduated in 1993, at the Conservatory
of Rotterdam with a diploma Latin-piano at the World
Music department . His professional experience includes
teaching Latin rhythm and ensemble courses at the Brussels
Conservatory since 1993 and masterclasses and workshops
at several Conservatories in Europe.
In 2004, he participated as an artist in
the “Taipei on the Move” Project where he gave workshops
in Latin-American music (Groove to the Music) for students
of the Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School in cooperation with
the Department of Cultural Affairs (DOCA) of the City
of Taipei.
As a performer he has toured with
ensembles such as Charanga La Comparsa, Son Alegre,
Rumbambola and The European Danzon Orchestra in Cuba,
France and the Caribbean.

Werner
Englert (Germany)
Saxophonist & Big Band Leader
The German saxophonist, arranger and composer
Werner Englert is widely known to European audiences
from his many concerts with Sax ‘n Hop and other ensembles.
He has worked with American Voices in Kazakhstan and
in the 2002, 2003 and 2004 Caspian Jazz and Blues Festivals
as soloist and Big Band Leader.
In his native Germany he is equally renowned
for his saxophone playing as for his work as conductor,
composer and arranger for Big Bands. His many achievements
in this area of Jazz include the founding of the Free
Dig Big Band and the Rock and Jazz School “MUSIK-LAB”
(www.music-lab.de)
A frequent guest professor at the
Hochschule Fuer Musik in Stuttgart, he has also been
guest teacher at Jazz and Big Band workshops at the
National Academy of Remscheid and the International
Association of Jazz Educators in Boston. His publications
include several volumes for music in the public schools.
He has worked with teachers like Karl Berger, Dave Holland
and Sam Rivers.

Debora
J. Carter (USA)
Singer
Deborah J. Carter was born in Texas, raised
in Hawaii, and, after an extended period in Spain, is
currently based in Amsterdam. This vocalist/composer/arranger
brings her multi-cultural experiences into her music.
"We are so privileged in this day and age to have
an open door to other cultures and perspectives that
enrich our own." And she brings it to light through
her style. Described by the Music Maker magazine as
"absolutely top-class", she is one of the
most exciting up-and-coming jazz vocalists in Europe
today.
Deborah's last CD, " 'SCUSE ME...",
is a sophisticated mixture of jazz, Latin, blues, and
gospel, is her first solo project. "It's my very
personal realization of the various shades and moods
of improvised music." One of the first presentation
concerts was at the 1998 North Sea Jazz Festival. This
CD received rave reviews from the international press.
At the age of seven Deborah began as a woodwind instrumentalist
in Hawaii and later started to study music theory, arranging,
and composition in her early teens in Japan. She continued
her studies at the prestigious Berklee College of Music.
"All throughout my younger years I was blessed
with wonderful teachers and friends that encouraged
me to flourish and grow in music." She also initiated
her experience in theater during her 3-year sojourn
in the Orient playing several lead and supporting roles
in Broadway musicals presented by young American theater
group there...Her
projects with American Voices include appearances in
Mandalay, Burma, the Caspian Jazz and Blues Festival
2003 in Baku, Azerbaijan and touring in Kazakhstan in
2004 in addition to several tours of the Balkans in
Albania, Bosnia and Croatia.

Thierry
Gutmann (Belgium)
Drummer Born in brussels
in 1961, graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels
with the masters degree in jazz, a varied artist and talented
drummer, confortable in every kind of music : pop, latin,
jazz music. He played occasionaly
with : belgium television band (BRT), Patrick deltenre,
Michel Hatzigorgiou, Kevin Mulligan, Tony O Malley,
David Linx, Marc Lelangue, Philippe Catherine, Calvin
Owens, Nicolas Fizman, Gino Lattuca, Daniel Romeo and
many others, he also played with Mike Stern during a
Yamaha presentation. He made records and had on tour
with different artists all the time (pop, blues, french
singers) like : Maurane, Isabelle Antenna, Kadja Nin,
William Sheller, Jo Lemaire, Axelle Red, Salvatore Adamo....He
just coming back from Japan and will be in Canada in
a few days for a Tour.
Besides Performing, he made a lot of drum
courses and was also a teacher at Jazz Studio in Antwerp
& Jeunesses musicales du Luxembourg.

Bassist Born 1965 in Bruges.
First prize for acoustic bass at the Koninklijk Muziekconservatorium
Gent in 1987. Attends jazz workshops in Dworp
(Belgium) with John CLAYTON and Hein VAN DE GEYN from
81 to 84. Since 88, professor at the Music Conservatories
of Ghent and Brussels.
As of 1986, member of BRT Jazz Orkest, with
which he accompanies a number of soloists, like Horace
PARLAN, Jerome RICHARDSON, Kenny WHEELER, Mal WALDRON,
Von FREEMAN...Also played with : Lew TABACKIN, Lee KONITZ,
the SADI Quartet, Jacques PELZER's Open Sky Unit, and
outside the jazz scene with pop artists like VAYA CON
DIOS, Isabelle ANTENA, ROLAND, KHADJA NIN, LAIS, etc…Concerts
as a freelance musician with : Dave PIKE, Deborah BROWN,
Mal WALDRON, Bud SHANK, Judy NIEMACK, Michel HERR, Barney
WILEN, Shirley BASSEY, Eric LE LANN, Jan JARCZYK, Michel
LEGRAND etc...In April 97, he performs at Toots THIELEMANS'
75th birthday concert in Brussels, with Toots, Philip
CATHERINE, Dutch pianist Bert VAN DEN BRINK and Brazilian
stars Ivan LINS, Dori CAYMI, Oscar CASTRO-NEVES. In
2001, he plays with Toots and Kenny WERNER, and now
he is part of the Toots THIELEMANS Quartet, numerous
concerts in Europe and Asia, performs at the several
Blue Note Jazz clubs Japan in 2001, 2003 and recently
2006. Besides, he is also a member of the Bart DEFOORT
quartet, Victor DA COSTA trio, sextet Andaloucia (Jean
Marie Machado) and since two years he plays with Salvatore
ADAMO.
Numerous albums with a.o.: Jacques
PELZER, Isabelle ANTENA, SADI Quartet & Nonet, ROLAND,
Mimi VERDERAME, Bart DEFOORT quartet, Sextet Andaloucia,

Guitarist
Belgian guitarist
Fabien Degryse studied in the United States at the "Berklee
School of Music" in Boston, USA in 1981-82. He
graduated from the jazz department of the French-Speaking
Brussels Conservatory, currently he is teaching jazz
guitar in the Jazz Department of Flemish-Speaking Royal
Conservatory of Brusssels.
He has performed with jazz greats such as
Toots THIELEMANS and The GOLDEN GATE QUARTET among many
others. His concert tours have taken him throughout
Europe, Africa and Asia with ensembles such as PANTA
RHEI (world music) and “L'AME DES POETES”. In 1999 he
released a guitar method, published by the 'Editions
Combre' of Paris, entitled "l'improvisation jazz
par les Arpeges pour la guitare". His other teaching
credits include:"Stage Midnight", "Jazz
au Vert" (Lundis d'Hortense), Summer Academy of
Libramont.

Hsieh (Taiwan)
Violinist
One of the most active Taiwanese
jazz musician, composer, educator, lecturer and promoter.
Graduated in classical violin major from the Music Department
of Chinese Culture University then holds the Masters
Degree of Jazz Violin, the Royal Conservatory of Brussels,
Belgium. Often performs with Chipin & Kaiya's Jazz
Group , Chipin & Kaiya's Duo Project. The later
group performs and tours in the National Recital Hall
(2003), music festivals and other high-profile venues
in Taiwan and Europe. In 2005 he performed in the Java
International Jazz Festival, Jakarta with the Chipin
& Kaiya’s Duo Project, then soon went back to Taipei
to perform with jazz pianist D.D. Jackson in March 18th
2005.
Chi-pin Hsieh is the instructor for the
Summer Jazz Party concert series hosted by National
Concert Hall from 2003 to 2005, and the Initiator and
faculty of Taipei International Summer Jazz Academy
since 2004. He is currently teaching in the music department
of Shih-Chien University.
Chipin & Kaiys’s Duo Project is
one of the most popular jazz group in Taiwan, they released
an highly-acclaimed debut album - "Impressions
of Taiwan" (Sunrise 68551) in November 2002. Besides,

Pianist
Born in Tainan , Taiwan , started playing
classical piano at the age of 4, graduated from Music
Section of Tainan Junior College of Home Economics,
Music Department of Chinese Culture University. She
graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Belgium
with the Masters Degree in Jazz & Latin Piano in
2002, soon went back to her country - Taiwan, dedicates
herself into a professional jazz pianist and composer
in various genres. Besides performing with "Chipin
& Kaiya's Duo Project", regular concerts/tours
and well-received Concert in National Recital Hall Taipei
in 11th August 2003, she is a well-known jazz piano
educator In Taiwan & neighbor regions as well. Some
of other noted performances include “When Taiwanese
Opera Meets Jazz” with the fabulous Taiwanese Opera
singer/actress Mei-yun Tang, and the performances in
the Java International Jazz Festival in Jakarta
Kai-ya Chang is teaching in Shih Chien
University and she is the faculty member of Taipei International
Summer Jazz Academy & Broadway Academy since 2004.

Greg
Carroll (USA)
Vibraphonist & Percussionist
Greg Carroll is currently Director of Education
for the International Association for Jazz Education
(IAJE), a position with responsibility for directing
IAJE education and outreach programs worldwide. Prior
to joining IAJE, Greg served as Director of Jazz Studies
at the University of Colorado.
He has played with many jazz luminaries
including Dave Grusin, Don Grusin, Nelson Rangell, Chico
Freeman, Bobby Shew, Phil Wilson, Don Menza, Dianne
Reeves, Louie Bellson, Gary Foster, Rob McConnell, Richie
Cole, Red Holloway, Steve Houghton, Shelly Berg, and
others.
He has directed the Colorado Jazz Workshop
and remains active as a performer, clinician, and education
consultant. Recording credits include Angela Hagenback
(Weaver of Dreams), the Hugh Ragin Collective (Feel
the Sunshine), Midnight Blue Jazz Quartet (Midnight
Blue Jazz Quartet, Estes, and Shavewo), Leslie Drayton
(Jazz House Party), Marc Sabatella (a.bluenote.rec.sampler.com),
Hugh Ragin (Back to Saturn), Peter Barbieri (Everything
That Grows), and Cat’s Night Out (Changes Over Time).
Carroll holds a BME degree from the University
of Northern Colorado and a MMEd from
the University of Colorado at Boulder.
